Dub Suffer Heavy Defeat

Cherryvale, Sunday 6 February 2005, 1:30PM

Dub FC (0)0 Rushlight Celtic (4)9

Sometimes you just have to accept defeat graciously and concede that the better team won. Unfortunately forDub, sunday proved such an occasion when they were beaten by a Rushlight side whose eye-catching display ofskill on the ball, fluent passing moves and incisive attacking football proved too much for a Dub side whononetheless showed great team spirit despite the defeat.

The Kernan brothers made an emotional appeal for togetherness prior to kick-off in order to quell the recentanimosity in the squad which was so evident the week before in the disappointing defeat to Trinity Lodge.Every member of the club signed up for Dub FC because they wished to enjoy playing regular football in anorganised league for a team whose sense of fairness, morale and camaraderie between the players is unrivalledin the BSPL. Dub FC are a relatively new outfit in the League and only two seasons ago languished in thebottom four of the 2nd division from which the club has propelled itself into the top flight where it rightlybelongs. A defeat such as that which occurred on Sunday, is only a minor setback for a team whose remarkableepic cup victories, steady progress in the top division and continual recruitment of new players illustratethat this club will be around for a long time to come. Long may it continue.
